The law on renewable energies (EEG) has made the generation of electricity using bio-gas feasible for many farmers. Livestock enterprises are still the primary benefactors of this opportunity as liquid manure has been a key substrate for the conventional method of generating bio-gas to date. However, plants have recently emerged which are capable of fermenting exclusively renewable resources offering purely agricultural enterprises the opportunity to operate bio-gas plants, too.
