The Kunststoff-Cluster PolymerMat e.V. handles bioplastics as one of its key projects for the coming years. The current "technology study of plastics technology" by the TU Ilmenau has identified bio-based raw materials and fibre-reinforced plastics composites (which can partly be reinforced with natural fibres) as two of the 15 technology trends of the plastics industry.
